Comparing My Writing Style

The differences between the style of writing that I do to friends and family and the style of writing to instructors are quite distinct. When writing to family and friends, it’s much more informal and not nearly as structured as it would be if I were to write to instructors. When I ever do have to write to professionals such as instructors, it would be structured as if I was writing a report or an essay. After reading your response I realized I was not completely clear on my point of view. I have notice this before and am working on being more clear when writing but also have a balance on not over explaining that can lead me to run off topic. This is not ease for me to do but when I receive feedback from people truly telling me their opinion and not just I agreeing it helps me correct my writing style. I think that paraphrasing will be the hardest for me to avoid while writing. It seems that sometimes it is hard to write or summarize something that is so well written already. The way I will work around that is to stop and re-read what I am wanting to summarize, take a few important words out of the material I am reviewing and jot those down, then go back and write what is needed to complete my sentence or idea. Once I have completed my writing, I will review and make sure I have properly cited my work. Using the guidelines discussed in our “Read Section”, and following the instructions listed on how to source correctly should avoid paraphrasing mistakes and plagiarism.…

Have You Developed a System of Writing That Works Most of The Time I really have not looked up different styles of writing let alone realized there was so many different types of it. My method is not necessarily a method per se, I have always for the longest time just wrote down as if I was speaking to someone. That to me was where my biggest praise came from, that I was able to write with such voice and was able to emulate my presence through the pages. When writing for an essay there is a period where I read and reread the question to gather all the information that is needed. Once the question is fully understood, I try to explain myself in full detail.…

Well, I consider myself to be a decent writer, even though writing is not my strong point. Therefore, as I have come to the completion of my degree, I have learned numerous writing skills along the way. I learned the MLA style, when I started taking my basics in college and the APA style for my upper division courses. At times I get confused on the formats as I consider them to be similar in some ways. Furthermore, they differ and each has its own different style of quoting and citation in articles, books, phrases, etc.…

One of the very first memories I had as a child was lying in bed at night and listening to my mom read stories to me. I would always have my pajamas lying in my bunk bed in my blue paint colored room. Every night before bed I would curl up next to her in bed and pick several books for her to read. As I got older, I would pick bigger, harder, and longer books to read.…

In only a few seconds, data can be retrieved solely from fingertips. Once I began studying with Curtin University, this needed to change to a more formal approach. At the beginning of the semester, I viewed myself as a creative writer. After attending this class I realized that there is a lot more that goes into writing an essay, or a research paper, than just creativity alone. I have learned that it is very important to be aware of my strengths and weaknesses in my writing. Taking this class has helped me understand the strengths and weaknesses in my writing skills, and it has given me the opportunity to strengthen the areas in which I was weak. An example of this is that I have become aware of my grammar and spelling errors as the semester progressed.…

Lastly, in an office, everyone needs to be formal and act professionally. According to Reed (retrieved 2015), people in office environments act in a professional manner. They dress appropriately and act formally in order to maintain a professional atmosphere unlike college where people can dress and act according to their style. Example is the use of emails. In college, e-mail can be used in a casual manner with friends and professors but in the business world, business e-mails are closer to formal letters than they are to texting.…
