Comparing Memo And Sabu

Decent Essays
The two statues " the royal acquaintances Memo and Sabu" and the statue of Gudea" dates from years before which symbolize different intentions.

The royal acquaintances memo and sabu: I can say that it symbolises love ,the reign, the union, strength and equalization of gender!!! As I can see there are two people who are standing up together and are dressed in white and are sex opposite ( Man and Woman)

The statue of Gudea: it is a statue of a leader who is the center, who gives laws to follow ,the leader the one to whom everyone looks to solves problems.

The conclusion: the conclusion that I can give about these two sculptures, is the difference between being alone and being in a team.

The sculpture of Gudea can show solitude,to make decision

Five Albertan Women lead by judge Emily Murphy, Henrietta Muir Edwards, Nellie McClung, Louise Crummy McKinney and Irene Parlby fought to have Canadian Women recognized constitutionally as “persons” who were eligible to be named Senate. However The Supreme Court of Canada rejected their case in 1928 but was favorited by the Judicial Committee of the British Privy Council, which was one authority higher than the Supreme Court of Canada. Looking at the Peplos Kouros and the Kouros, one can tell that the time span between the two sculptures had a lot to do with how people would have perceived them. In a today’s more modern society, Huffington’s Kouros is seen as the representation of the female body with the comparison of the Archaic Peplos Kouros given its similarities of medium and style. These two pieces have many similarities, but one thing that sets them apart is the own artist’s intentions for the sculpture in each of their own time eras. While the Peplos Kouros shows the start of curiosity of the female body, Huffington’s Kouros shows it’s audience the pure naturalistic elements of what is the female…

The statue of Socrates and the statue of King Leonidas are different representatives for different empires. The statue of King Leonidas looks as if a warrior was getting prepared for battle. He’s standing tall and confident, and is equipped with a sharp sword and a large circular shield. The statue of Socrates looks as if a man is sitting on what looks like a throne planning his attack. The similarities of the two are very conspicuous.…

Using the old conventional genre hierarchy as mentioned by the Metropolitan Museum of Art (2016), we can see that this is falls under portraiture. I will use this hierarchy classification to compare the Statue of Memi and Sabu to the Statue of Gudea. Before discussing the context, I will describe the form and content of the Statue of Gudea. When I first see the Statue of Gudea, I get a feeling that the Gudea wants to be left alone, kind of like he is concentrating real hard on something, or anxiously waiting for something to happen to him. The statue is dark, made of the stone diorite, and looks rather hard, and shiny.…

Guanyin and Avalokiteśvara, both bodhisattvas were exhibited in front of our class in the Trout Gallary. The comparasion between two statues gave me a great impression because they two were basically the same person but looked so differently as statues. Both of them are representations of Buddha: one aspired to help all sentient beings be free of suffering while the other tried to reach the Nivana. Even though Guanyin and Avalokitesvara differ from each other from a very large extent based on their materials, sizes and facial expressions, they are both beautiful innerly and outterly. The statue of Guanyin is in excellent condition even though it was made more than two hundred years ago.…

When I first opened this written assignment, I expected these two different pieces of art to be totally different from one another, since I had to compare and contrast them. But they didn't give a significant feeling of difference at the first encounter, which means I could not tell apart frome one with another in primary content(Belton, 1996) except for the posture(one standing, one seated) and the number of objects(one and two), since it is literally 'what you see is what you get'. However, after reading the description that came with each sculptures, I could slightly tell the difference of the contents of the two, which have to be the tertiary contents(Belton, 1996), which can be retrieved after combining primary, and secondary contents with the context of the artworks. According to "The Royal Acquaintances Memi and Sabu" by Metropolitan Museum, Statue of Memi and Sabu is in a common style of that could be easily found in serdab of nonroyal tomb chapels of the Old Kingdom.…

Both show historical purpose but the statue of Augustus shows more of a purpose because it uses gods as propaganda to link emperors like Augustus to the gods to make them seem immortal to society. These sculptures both show visual symbolism in their cultures as an ideal figure, but Roman art takes Greek ideals of art and applies it to their own works but they add their own amplified message behind the…

In order to identify and mimic the creative prospects of the work that elicit detail, I had to admire certain elements and suspect their relevance to the piece, where only then I could interpret them and advance my own creation from the techniques that I observed. While we study many beautiful pieces of art throughout the entirety of this semester, between the originality, economic struggles, and over complications that are exhibited within this work, I believe this work is the most advanced of which we saw, considering the region from whence it…
