Introduction
The medieval period and Renaissance worldviews can be compared and contrasted with many different reasons. From the church and religion to the art from these two periods. There were also royalty and science which included anatomy.
Similarities
There were a few major similarities between the medieval period and the Renaissance. One of the most important of them all is the church. For example the figures in the art during the medieval period were expressionless as well as in stiff, unrealistic poses. While the faces, during the Renaissance, were filled with emotion, expression, and the human poses were lifelike and realistic. The de Medici’s were patrons of the arts during the Renaissance. They sponsored artists and their art like Botticelli’s Birth of Venus, which depicts the birth of the goddess Venus, from the foam of the sea. In the medieval period artists represented God as weak while in the Renaissance He was shown as strong like the Greek god Zeus. A good example of that is Michelangelo’s Creation of Adam. It shows God, a powerful looking man giving life to the first human, Adam. Moses was also made to look strong and powerful, therefore he looks like a Greek god in Michelangelo's Moses. Ancient Greek and Roman art influenced Europe’s early middle ages and Renaissance sculptors. Medieval art was more like the roman sculpture style while the Renaissance sculptures resembled the Greek
