Comparing Max And Maxwell Kane's Freak The Mighty

Freak the mighty is a story that began between two kids with a very strong friendship, Maxwell Kane and Kevin Dillon. Also known as Freak The Mighty, Kevin being Freak and Maxwell being The Mighty. It all began in a ghetto neighborhood and Maxwell Kane was a slow thinker in a giant body. Max (for short) lived with his grandparents who is his mother’s parents and which he calls “Grim” and “Gram”, Max’s mother died and Max’s father was in jail. Max was afraid of the outside world. He was very anti social and quiet. Along came Kevin and his mother moved next door from Max. Kevin also known as “Freak” was an intelligent boy whose brain was a dictionary, but his body is so crippled by birth defects that he has to wear braces on his legs. Freak likes to build many things and that night he made an ornithopter and Max was watching him fly the machine in the air and it got stuck and Max went over and got it down for Freak and that is how they became friends.
Since Max is not out-going he lives in the basement alone. Freak notices his retardation and makes him feel free and teaches him not to be a prisoner inside his own little world. Throughout the story Max and Freak go on wild adventures together. Since Freak struggles to walk, Max carries Freak

Christmas goes by and Freak gets really sick. He gets to a point where he was sent to the E.R. The doctors warn Freaks mother that he will die. The doctors say his organs are growing but his physical body isn't. Unfortunately, Freak’s mother has to break down the news to Max. Max takes the news very badly and doesn't know what to do. Sadly Freak dies and Max becomes a wreck but before Freak died, Freak gave Max a diary and he wrote in the first page to write all the adventures they went through together and make their friendship be a legacy and a friendship to never forget. Max begins writing and writing and that's how the story of “Freak The Mighty”
