Comparing Marx And Engels In The Communist Manifesto

The Communist Manifesto was written by German philosophers Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels in the 1840’s. It was written during the time period of massive revolutions across Europe. However, its influence would further shape the social and political landscape of Europe during the twentieth century. The Communist Manifesto provided an analytical perspective of the struggle of classism and the problems associated with capitalism. Marx and Engels indicated that at some point in time the communist regime would be replaced by a socialist form of governance. In The Communist Manifesto Marx and Engels highlighted the economic and social separation between different classes of people. Marx and Engels described two prominent social classes called bourgeoisie and proletariat. The revolutions that occurred after the publication of The Communist Manifesto were known as the Revolutions of 1848. The revolutions transpired in the late nineteenth century and continued into the twentieth century. The revolutionary movement began in France with King Louis Philippe being overthrown by the working class people in the country. The teachings of The Communist Manifesto inspired the working class people of France to fight for their right of universal suffrage (Kolev 18). Similar revolutions began in Germany, Italy and Austria and all were influenced by the theories expressed in The Communist Manifesto. The views and theories outlined in The Communist Manifesto illustrated to the proletariats that they were the majority and could trigger a revolution if they were unified.
