Comparing Macbeth And Troubadour Poetry

Throughout time one period of writing has influenced the next and so on and so on. This is proven when one studies Troubadour poetry, Decameron, the Canterbury Tales and all the way to Macbeth. Troubadour poetry describes and gives examples of passion and emotion. For example, in the poem “Pus vezem de novelh florir” it states, “Of love I’ll speak nothing but good. Why’ve I not had all that I could? Likely I’ve had all that I should; For readily, It grants joy to one who’s understood Love’s boundary.” This talks about the passion of love and that love gives joy to anyone that has experienced it before. In the Decameron, seven young men and women flee from a diseased city. While they are spending time outside the city they tell stories about love, adultery, death, and much more, …show more content…
The Canterbury Tales is a group of people travelling from one city to another and as they are travelling, in order to pass the time, they took the time to tell stories. These stories use the same themes that the Troubadour and Decameron use. In Macbeth even though emotions like love and lust are not used like they are in the Decameron or Troubadour poetry, the passion for power and the emotions that goes with greed are very strong.
In the decameron there was also a lot of love and strong passions in the stories that the seven women and three men told to each other.
