2.) I have determined the following difficulty order of the publications listed above for several reasons. One of the main components in which I ordered the books is comprehension. In Macbeth, its original text took many times of rereading and reanalyzing for me to comfortably move on. This differed much from Roses That Grew From Concrete. This book had an assortment of poems for me to interpret rather than comprehend, causing me to flow through each page quickly (compared to Macbeth). I also based the difficulty order of the publications listed on the length of the novel. The thicker books included much more detail and information to analyze. Throughout the year, my reading selections constantly fluctuated from size, genre, and difficulty. Comparing my ability to comprehend and adequately complete the book were a few of the main reasons in which I ordered the publication above. …show more content…
My most favored book would have to Flowers for Algernon By Daniel Keyes. This book’s composition completely hooked me from the first few pages. Being composed of entry journals rather than the typical large plot, and containing excessive incorrect syntax intrigued me from the gecko. I managed to truly indulge in this novel in an astounding two days, desspite being pressured from a project. My emotions were completely rattled throughout the novel to the point where I was in tears. The themes that I was able to recognized largely attributed to why this book consistently kept my attention. Following Flowers for Algernon would be: Roses That Grew From Concrete, The Great Gatsby, The Husband’s Secret & Among the Hidden. All these books were quite entertaining, but the attributes I listed for Flowers for Algernon slowly declined in the next books I

The novel is well rounded, but only falls short due to the accidental mistakes made by the author. Nonetheless, the fact that the book is followed by several sequels ultimately provides the possibility that the author fixes the issues within the next installments. However, despite being a well rounded novel the book at times is dragged out with unnecessary additional words where the author attempts to further describe her point. The reader at times will have to re-read several passages to understand the repetitive word choice and will have to overcome the lack of suspense within the novel’s key…

I had a few difficulties on deciding what quotes I wanted to use to make sense of the questions that were asked. I learned that next time while reading I should take more extensive notes about what I think might be important. Another difficult aspect that took me hours was to summarize the book in less than 400 words. It took me a couple of times, but I think that I managed to get less than 400 words. I think my strengths of this paper are the process of selection.…

The Cather in the Rye really sucked me in and got me thinking about a lot. The book is about teenager Holden Caulfield and his experiences growing up and maturing in New York before he decides to go home. Initially the book started out kind of slow but quickly picked up and I had a hard time putting it down. The Catcher in the Rye quickly caught my attention and dragged me in. In the second chapter of the book while Holden is talking to his history teacher Mr. Spencer about how life is just a game, Holden states “Game, my ass.…

What does petty high school drama have to do with Shakespeare’s Macbeth? At first, the two may seem like polar opposites, as high school drama entails teenagers backstabbing each other with words and trivial actions and Macbeth involves literal stabbing. However, under the surface, the two are more similar than they seem. Macbeth’s attempts to gain power through terror are as futile as a high school student’s attempts to gain popularity by sabotaging his or her best friends. The constant shifts of loyalty in Macbeth are the same shifts of loyalty that happen between high school friend groups.…

    1. The person that is saying the quote here is Macbeth and he is talking to Angus and Ross. As Macbeth still thinks that the current Thane of Cawdor at the time was alive, he asks Angus and Ross why he was named the Thane of Cawdor. There are numerous literary devices associated with this quote with the obvious being the use of metaphor; however, more specifically, metonymy is used since the “robes” can be related with the Thane. Alliteration is also used with the first words “The” and “Thane”.…

As readers, we find ourselves intrigued by how Macbeth reacts to those who tempt him. Even though he is a fictional character who was created over four hundred years ago, the way that he behaves in response to an enticement draws us in, because of various reasons. First of all, we see ourselves in Macbeth. Human nature doesn’t change over time, and stories and characters such as Macbeth translate the human psyche into something that we can understand…

The speaker also states in line 4 that, depending on the whims of Fortune and Time, individuals may be “weeds among weeds, or flowers among flowers gathered.” In this analogy, it is highly possible that weeds represent the working class and the flowers the nobility, as weeds typically possess negative connotations whilst flowers are known to symbolize beauty. It is thus also interesting to note that the speaker mentions weeds before flowers, because he refers to Time’s love before Time’s hate in the previous line. By coupling weeds with love and flowers with hate, he is dismantling the idea that the nobles are inherently “better” than their poorer counterparts. By essentially equating weeds to flowers, Shakespeare is also rejecting the idea…

What’s the world like the day after you leave it physically? Will your haters still hate on you? Will the ones who once didn’t have a nice word to say about you, praise you at your funeral? Will they care now that you are gone? Many scholars including film director Alfred Hitchcock argue that characters are more important dead than alive and I agree with this statement. It takes death for people to care about you even though it is much too late.…
