Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein is a classic piece of literature that came to Shelley in a dream. John Polidori’s The Vampyre was also published at the same time as Frankenstein, and they both exhibit similar traits. Some of the concepts that the stories share are traveling, folklore and even sickness.…
During todays discussion we analyzed a poem by Mary Shelley’s husband Percy Shelley. After the discussion the 3x3 title I came up with was Shelley echo’s Shelley. First off I find it a little weird that Mary Shelly wrote Frankenstein in 1816 and Percey Shelly wrote the poem in 1818. In Frankenstein and Ozymandias both believe in their capability to make an impression.…
I will be discussing the differences that the director made in his version of Macbeth. How those changes worked or didn’t work. I will also be discussing what themes I would bring out to the audience today if I were to direct the play. Geoffrey Wright’s…
In almost every novel, there is always a main character with outstanding values. In Shakespeare’s Macbeth (1606) and Arthur Miller’s The Crucible (1953), the protagonists have very strong traits. In the novel Macbeth, Macbeth himself is a very ambitious character in the play. As for Arthur Miller’s The Crucible, John Proctor is a man of integrity. In the following will be shown that Macbeth is a very ambitious man in a way that he will do anything, like ruin his name, to have power in his hands whereas John Proctor will do anything to keep his good name and reputation.…
Macbeth and Scar from The Lion King are similar because in the beginning of Macbeth, King Duncan’s death is planned when Macbeth is told by the three witches that he can claim the throne if Duncan passes away before Malcolm becomes old enough to rule. Macbeth and Lady Macbeth both plan the murder of King Duncan. After King Duncan is pronounced dead his son fleas out of town worrying that he might be next on the list. The Lion King was supposed to be based off of Hamlet in the first place but somehow seems to make more sense when comparing it to Macbeth, for insistence, in The Lion King we have Scar (who is playing Macbeth) who wants to get rid of Mufasa because he wants to take over the Pride Land with the help of the hyenas (who are playing the three witches) before Simba turns old enough to take over. So Scar murders Mufasa and talks…
Nevertheless, Victor Frankenstein also chooses his isolation. He becomes so caught up in his studies and in the creation of the monster that he becomes unpleasant from confinement. In the novel Frankenstein, the monster is always by himself and he is never with anyone. The monster wants attention and someone he could love.…
Just to be clear before I start, I would definitely choose Frankenstein as a friend over Dracula. Do you disagree? Hear me out then. First of all, would you like a friend that always sleeps the opposite time as you. I sure wouldn’t.…
Like many legends and tales Frankenstein's story has been changed and modified over the years. Mary Shelley's original Frankenstein tale was a different form of story telling in its day and age back when the story was first created there wasn't anything like it. Nowadays the books and movies you see are all about horror and thriller tales. I chose to watch Victor Frankenstein (2015) and The Curse of Frankenstein (1957) These two movies seemed them most interesting to me.…
Frankenstein and Lord of the Flies take place in different settings; however, there are corresponding similarities between the common threats of the characters portrayed in these books. Different troubles are seen in these two distinct books, all of which come from the same basic conclusion that the characters are going to be isolated from society and destroyed. These circumstances and demeanors the characters take are also the reason that leads to the changes of themselves, which creates a foothold to their own self destruction. Having a lack of responsibility, choosing to live in solitary, and attempting to seize power, creates an inevitable fate of destruction within themselves. Victor and the creature from Frankenstein as well as the boys,…
There is none but he whose being I do fear; and under him my genius is rebuked” (3.1.53-56). Already alarmed by the prophecy that Banquo’s descendants will soon reign, Macbeth feels completely inferior to Banquo. Exemplifying a man of boldness and discernment, these two qualities get Banquo…
The Bible and Shakespeare’s writing are some of the most alluded works of literature. The storylines of Macbeth and Genesis 3 share numerous parallels. Macbeth has temptation, greed and is full of opportunistic characters. Genesis 3 has characters with those traits as well. Shakespeare is plagiarizing in a sense, he steals majority of the basics of the genesis story, Adam and Eve.…
It’s necessary to include a set of interesting characters in your play, that way it can be successful. Without captivating characters to whom the readers can identify, it would limit the reach of the play. In other words, captivating characters are a must for a successful play. The Crucible and Macbeth have many similarities in terms of characters and themes. Firstly, in Macbeth they had Lady Macbeth who was very manipulative she was very similar to Abigail Williams who was very manipulative as well.…
A successful leader is one that brings prosperity to a region while upkeeping good morals. They must seek to better the state of the region and keep the interests of the people in mind. Two works of literature that illustrate this theme of what makes a good leader are The Prince by Niccolo Machiavelli and Macbeth by William Shakespeare. In The Prince, Machiavelli uses rulers of past and present to illustrate qualities necessary in a good leader. In Macbeth, Macbeth, a valiant war hero, becomes king of Scotland through immoral means and suffers greatly due to his unchecked ambition.…

Shakespeare's two tragedies Macbeth and Hamlet can easily be compared, as Shakespeare has used many of the same elements. In particular, the supernatural plays a major role in both Macbeth and Hamlet. This is where the battle between good and evil takes place. Macbeth, who is driven by power, and Hamlet, who is controlled by his desire for revenge. Macbeth and Hamlet is the most famous tragedies that Shakespeare wrote.…
