He wanted to end the waiting game. If he did not know his fate, he would not have committed such a heinous act. This quote is also a literary technique named hamartia. This is hamartia because that led to MacBeth’s downfall. “I won't go back! I don't fade to think of what I've done. I don't look at it again!” (Act 2 Scene 2). This line is showing the afternoon Macbeth had committed a heinous act and had blood on his hands even had the daggers with him, he was scared to go back, showing that he committed the act without even thinking. He was not a person to do such acts but knowing his feet change him. This act that he committed led to his ultimate downfall, making it hamartia. Another literary element used in Macbeth is Personification. Personification is when you give a human characteristic to something that is non human. Shakespeare uses personification throughout the book. “Sleep that knits up the raveled sleeve of care,” (Act 2 Scene 2) This line is an example of personification in Macbeth because it gave sleep, which is non-living, a human characteristic.
