Comparing Logic, Camila Cabello, And Kendrick Lamar

A teenager wakes up on a horrible Monday morning, and has to get ready for school. He takes a shower, eats his breakfast, and is about to get on the bus. It is dark and gloomy outside, and then he puts on his headphones, closes his eyes, and watches the world as it lights up in the most beautiful of colors. That is me, almost every morning, because I am not looking forward to a long day of work, but when I put those headphones on, it feels like the day is going to go by quickly. When I listen to music, it isn’t about the music itself, but the artist that has created it. When I listen to music, my top 3 artists--Logic, Camila Cabello, and Kendrick Lamar--are my favorite because of their commonality that they are relatable. Logic is my favorite …show more content…
Logic is kind of like a new rapper, but he has been in the game for about 10 years now, and people are just realizing how great his lyrical abilities are. He has kind of a fast flow, which isn’t very unique, but the way he uses words like “anonymity” and “enemy” to rhyme and create a deeper meaning is absolutely marvelous. Camila Cabello is a novice as a solo artist who used to be in a group. Her group was keeping her from expressing her lyrical ability, which is why she went solo. Camila likes to write her own songs, because she can use her feelings, and put her heart into all her music, which is where she excels lyrically. When she sings, the listener can hear how well the lyrics go with her voice, because she wrote it herself, and because the listener can hear how emotionally connected she can be to the song. Camila has various different flows in her songs. Sometimes, she has a fast flow, and other times, she can have a slow to medium flow, but in all cases, her lyrical ability is shown very well through her music, and she proves it to everyone, including herself, that she is better off now then she was before. Lastly, Kendrick has left a huge mark on the rap community with his lyrical ability. He has all kinds of flows, from slow, to fast, to medium. He sometimes switches his flows about 2-3 times in a song. This is a great tactic …show more content…
There are either good vibes, or there can be some bad vibes. Logic is an artist that creates music where mostly all of his songs give off a positive, or good, vibe. Since his motto is “Peace, Love, and Positivity”, whoever listens to Logic can sense that positive vibe that comes with his music, and feel very happy, or turn up to his music because he has many songs that give off that type of feel too. Camila Cabello is very unique in her own way, in that she gives off the best vibes, but in all the songs she writes, whether they be emotional, or happy. Her debut solo album broke many records, and that in part could be because of the vibes given off in that album. She puts a mix of her culture, and american culture into the songs, which makes listeners feel like they are in the exact place she could be talking about in the song. Kendrick has good vibes, as well as many turn up vibes that mix into the good ones. He makes songs that have a meaning, but he turns them into songs where people can have fun if they are at a party or in a club. He has a variety of songs with different vibes that are given off, but overall, they are positive, and mostly turn up vibes from the songs that I have listened to. A song with vibes that someone can feel when they are listening, is a song that should be number 1 on their playlist. Vibes are a big part in a

Many artists these days tend to sample other authors work into their songs to add a greater purpose or meaning to their music. Although this technique is not used in a lot of genres and appears mostly in hip-hop music, forms of music sampling have been around since the late 1900’s. Artists like Kanye West and Kendrick Lamar are known for sampling other artist’s music or speeches and incorporating them into their songs to enhance the message or theme that is trying to be presented. Kendrick Lamar uses a sample in his song “Alright” to help illuminate what life is like as an African American and the struggles that they face due to their skin color.…
