Discoveries can be sudden and impactful, having the power to change an individual’s perception of society through the events and consequently prompting reliance on faith and relationships as a coping mechanism. In the Life of Pi by Ang Lee, Pi Patel undergoes emotional and spiritual changes as a result of his discoveries while in The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky, Charlie experiences intellectual and emotional growth as a product of his coming-of-age.
