Have you ever made friends with someone you fear ? or had to rely on and work with someone who makes you uncomfortable ? Well if you have you clearly understand “ The life of Pi “ . Pi was a boy who was stranded on a boat with 4 zoo animals , a hyena ,a tiger named Richard parker , a monkey named Orange Juice and a zebra . Pi and Richard parker was the last standing , even though Pi was very afraid of he had to overcome his fear and help them both to stay alive . Some people say that there are a few differences between the book and the movi. I e had to watch and read the book ‘’ The life of Pi to understand that the movie and the book was very different . To begin , the book “ The life of Pi ” the relationship between Pi and the monkey ( Orange juice ) were different than the relationship in the Movie . In the book Pi and Orange Juice were friends and they communicated together , when in the book it talks about Orange Juice and the hyena . According to the book it says “ The strained , temporary peace between Orange Juice and the hyena , and my reprieve , were no doubt due to the same reason ’’ . In the movie Richard Parker and Pi were having a love - hate relationship whether they would fight or help each other . In the book it was the same exact way . According to the book it says “ A part of me did not want richard parker to die at all because if he did I would be left with despair a foe even more formidable than a tiger ’’ “ This happened time again . How true it is that necessity is the mother of invention , how very true” . This showed me that not only did Pi had a very bi-polar attitude towards Richard Parker , but it also shows me that Pi was struggling to survive but he fought for his life . There was one more difference in the movie than the book
