People everyday watch the news to become informed on what is going on in the world, without realizing that the viewers are being misled. The news is supposed to provide viewers with current events without being deceiving but instead, news channels are beginning to input their own political views in reports. People who watch the news often try to get their views validated or justified rather than challenged. Specifically, in this article, Chris Cillizza voices his opinion of Trump’s views on content regulation, which gives Trump a negative view concerning the rights of the press to relay facts to citizens. This also may easily sway others, through the power of news media influence and media effects to feel the more urgent need of voicing out their own opinions and complaints against Trump. As an effect of this negative bias of Trump, people may in turn become more aware and keen on finding more negative values of Trump and thus allows more news journalists to write of his supposed foolish actions of him and his supporters in order to gain more support of their views through interesting…

Although a plethora of political information resides on the Internet, the American public self-reinforces their worldviews through their received knowledge about the world. In the article “Limiting Democracy: The American Media’s World View, and Ours,” Glenn Greenwald argues that the American government, along with media outlets, controls the amount of knowledge available to the public. Greenwald, by basing his claims on expert opinion, appeal to the reader’s beliefs, and specific cases of media control, provides strong evidence to convince readers that one’s worldview is shaped through propagandized material regulated by the American government and media. In previous decades, U.S. citizens had little choice about what to watch on television – everybody watched the same news shows and had access to the same information. Now, there is a plethora of shows available every night. Several studies show that people who hold more liberal beliefs seek out more liberal media, and people who hold more conservative beliefs seek out more conservative media – media that reinforces their current political beliefs. Meanwhile, those people that consider themselves to be moderates, and more likely, those who are not interested in U.S. politics, often choose to completely forego political news. The public push for more extreme media, and the more extreme media may be influencing Congress (Levendusky, 2014).…

ANALYSIS: Modern day Political Satire VS Ancient Greek Satire: Political Satire originated in the 4th century BCE in Greece, in what was known as the Aristophanic Comedy. Aristophanes was a playwright of ancient Athens who used comedy to mock and explicitly criticize the governmental system at the time. His powers of ridicule were feared and acknowledged by politicians of the time. Aristophanes’ comedy was peculiarly democratic in a period where democracy was in stages of instability in Ancient Greece. Also, his plays and art were addressed to and reflect the life of ordinary citizens, as his humor was addressed to everyone in the Greek society, as oppose to some sorts of arts that only appeal to certain social classes.…

On the opening of The Late-Night Show with Stephen Colbert, he started with commenting on how each debate session either during or after, Trump would claim that the election is rigged. So, to add a comedic moment to start off the show Colbert used what is media literately known as his multiliterate ability to show a scene from the debate where Hillary Clinton is talking and behind here and slightly adjacent to the viewers left is three letters, “Rig.” Of course, it wasn’t the word rigged and it was the word right, it was just a “too good to be true” moment where it had to be announced. He then later was obviously shocked and or mortified with the fact that when Chris Wallace asked Donald Trump, “if he would be ok with the results of the election,”…

Over the last few decades, there has been a growth in partisan media on cable TV and on the Internet. These media have specific audiences that they target and their content caters to these audiences. They are not concerned with “the middle” or a comprehensive view of policy or politics. With many of their constituents choosing these media options over others, it can be hard for members of Congress to move toward the middle. They risk public backlash for straying from partisan…
