Got Power? In human nature, the thirst for more power will lead anyone to do just about anything, even to the extent of murder. William Shakespeare proves this through his play Macbeth, and uses the lead female character, Lady Macbeth, to show this. Once Lady Macbeth heard of the prophecy of Macbeth to become king, she made it her goal to do anything to reign as Queen of Scotland, alongside Macbeth. Similarly, Hillary Clinton, former United States Secretary of State, showed the same determination for power when she ran as the Democratic nominee during the 2016 presidential election. Although they both experience two different mental states following their rise to power, Lady Macbeth and Hillary Clinton both strip themselves of their femininity …show more content…
Although Hillary Clinton took a loss against Donald Trump, she still remains the face of breaking the glass ceiling. Hillary Clinton believes that she, along with America,“[has] work to do”(Merica). Clinton may have had difficulty dealing with her loss, but she continues to move on. By Hillary Clinton not wanting to give up, it shows a more masculine side because many other women would have given up.
