Having an avid love for science and an epic affair with fiction, I've always been motivated to explore the intermingling of both. At the bookstore, I'm faced with a decision of whether to dive into the oceans of science fiction, or to explore the narrow caverns and the vast sights of futurism. I gaze at the stars, wondering how long until we begin travelling through space, a new frontier for humanity. I've spent nights thinking about how we'll change the natural world as we know it. There are futures I envision that fill me with absolute dread. I want to dream of a sustainable planet where humanity's greatest problems have been solved; not have nightmares of our extinction. In these technologies you see promises of both. In Dragon Age: Inquisition the character Vivienne says to the Herald of Andraste, "Magic is dangerous, just as fire is dangerous. Anyone who forgets this truth gets burned." In a world where the science of today appears as magic to older generations, we need to have a conversation on ethics in these emerging and disruptive fields. As a lover of both science and humanity, I want to be a part of that
