It’s interesting to note that both Kelly Reichardt and Agnes Varda shot their respective film on location in both Paris and Portland. Reichardt tends to shows Wendy from a distance as she walks around the city, giving plenty of landscape shots that truly show how poor both Wendy and the city is. Varda on the other hand tends to use a lot of medium shots that keep Cleo very much in the frame, but gives us enough room to see some of the beauties Paris has to offer. A great example of this comes when Cleo leaves her apartment and walks through the streets, the camera follows her, making sure she takes up a majority of the frame, but the audience can still see the city she is walking though.
