Oedipus and Hamlet, are two of literatures more significant heroes, who were both children of murdered kings, both wishing to bring justice to the land. Their stories are parallel from the murder of the king to the role of the characters, but there is critical difference between Hamlet and Oedipus. The comparison begins as characters both has a sense of justice, though one of the two become corrupted and replaced this sense of justice with vengeance. The duo was seeking justice but one of them has befallen tragedy, as the difference between Hamlet and Oedipus being the intent they have to the enact justice, as Hamlet wishes to become arbiter and executioner while Oedipus only wishes to banish the offender. In Hamlet, Hamlet thinks greatly over what to do about what he should do, he thought and planned, wanting to make sure that the justice he wished to bring was to be the correct judgement. He took great care to make sure he would not be duped by the phantom appearance of his father. Hamlet had to assure that his choice and actions were absolute, without mistake but with hesitation. The hesitation brought him to lose his opportunity to execute Claudius, to make it known to the people of Denmark that the villain was ended and that the town was safe. Both characters display the qualities of what makes a good king; to be smart and clever as a fox to trick their enemies and to be mighty and proud as a lion to fearlessly display their power and rule. But Oedipus and Hamlet have not yet fully met the requirements to become king, they are distinguished by their opposites, Hamlet being the clever fox and Oedipus the fearless lion.
