Judy Garland was born in Grand Rapids, Minnesota on June, 10 1922. Her mother’s name was Ethel Marion and her father’s name was Francis Gumm. Judy was the youngest in her family. Judy’s two older sisters were Suzanne Gumm and the other sister was Mary Jane Gumm. Garland began performing at age of two. She performed dance acts with her sisters.They were known as the Gumm sisters. In 1936 at age of thirteen, Judy signed a contract to Metro-Goldwyn Mayer (MGM). Later that year, Garland appeared in “Pigskin Parade,” as the girl next door. This was the start of a big thing.
Garland did many more musicals. In 1937 she did Broadways of Melody”as Betty Clayton. In 1939, she did the “Wizard of Oz.” as Dorothy, a girl that lives in Kansas this was

She got an Oscar for the “Wizard of Oz.” An Oscar is a award for your acting skills. She also did “Thoroughbreds don’t Cry” as Cricket West. In 1936 she did “Babes in arms.” as Patsy Barton. She also did “Strike up the band” as Mary Holden and “Little Nellie Kelly” as Nellie Kelly which were in 1940.There was another one in 1942 “Babes on Broadway” as Penny Morris. There was also “Me and My Gal” as Jo Hayden in 1942. In 1943 she did “Presenting Lily Mars” as Lily Mars. She did another one she did in 1943 called “Girl Crazy” as Ginger Gray. In 1944 she did “Meet Me in St.Louis.”as Esther Smith. In 1945 she did “The Clock” as Alice Mayber. In 1946 she did “Ziegfeld Follies” as Kathryn Grayson. Also in 1946 she did the “Harvey Girls” as Susan Bradley In 1948 she did “The Pirate” as Manual. Another one she did in 1948 was “Easter Parade” as Hannah Brown.
