“Somewhere over the Rainbow way up high,There’s a land that I once heard in a lullaby,somewhere over the rainbow,” Oh hello my name is Dorothy Gale from Kansas I’ve lost my path and need to find the way back home, Can you help me? My real name is Judy Garland. I was born in Minnesota on June 10, 1922, and immediately my career took off in 1939 when I scored a lead part in the award winning movie “The Wizard of Oz”. I started filming “The Wizard of Oz” with high hopes and dreams, which soon were accomplished as my hit song, “Somewhere over the Rainbow,” SOARED on the charts and I eventually grabbed an Oscar for the performance. From the early age of two I was performing, singing and dancing in front of crowds. When I was younger I was in a girl group with my sisters, Dorothy and Mary Jane Gumm, but was clearly the more talented out of the sisters. After signing with MGM at age 13 I did shows and movies which included some singing but highlighted my acting. However at age 28 I was fired from MGM because of some personal issues. Still wanting to perform I found a different angle and did my own Broadway show, not only was it about me but led me to be a star at my performance in Carnegie Hall. This performance earned FOUR Grammy awards and remained at top of the charts for around 13 weeks. Unfortunately sometime after my Carnegie Hall performance my life came to an abrupt end on June 22, 1969, at age 47—when I overdosed on barbiturates and was found lying dead on the bathroom floor in Chelsea, London. Today I am still remembered for my greatest success starring as Dorothy from “The Wizard of Oz.” I hope my legacy is carried on and people remember me for being the bubbly, spirit lifting girl I was...Bye now I have to find my way back to Kansas, (Turns around) *We’re off to see the Wizard the wonderful Wizard of Oz” *Sits down and beckons
