Water is critical to our health and well-being. When we are born, 75-80% of our body is water. As we get older, our bodies consistently remain in the 55-65% range. Dehydration can lead to death; unclean water can lead to death; no water—no life!
Jesus knew the value of water, and extends this basic necessity of life to our spiritual well-being. John records the following conversation between Jesus and a Samaritan woman at Jacob’s well in Samaria:
“When a Samaritan woman came to draw water, Jesus said to her, ‘Will you give me a drink?’ (His disciples had gone into the town for food.) The Samaritan woman said to Him, ‘You are a Jew and I am a Samaritan woman. How can you ask me for a drink?’ (For Jews do not associate with Samaritans.) Jesus
