The maxim "Every man is the architect of his own fortune" is true and many people better themselves and improve upon their current situation by their own sweat and hard work. Many people are born into a situation that is less than perfect, want it to be better, and work to improve their status. Some well known people, Jay-Z and J.K. Rowling are some of these people. They did not let their current circumstances bog them down, and they worked and used their talents and abilities to better their conditions around them. Everyday people are born into circumstances that are less than favorable. Many of them live as their parents live, they get a job that they can support themselves with, and live out their lives without improvement. Others are unhappy with their …show more content…
His family was very poor and he had three siblings, which made it troublesome to provide for all of the children. His father ended up leaving the family, leaving his mother to care for the children. He attended the Eli Whitney High School in Brooklyn, which shut down before he graduated. He went to two more schools but did not graduate from high school. J.K. Rowling, the author of the famous Harry Potter series, was living in Edinburgh Scotland on welfare for four years before completing the first book in the series. She had separated from her husband and took her infant daughter, moving to Edinburgh to be close to her sister. She was living on welfare and was “poor as it is possible to be in modern Britain, without being homeless.” She wrote her book in small coffee shops around the city, because walking around would help her daughter to sleep, and she could walk between the cafes when she woke up.
Just because they were in a bad part of their life, they did not let that get them down. Carter and Rowling became very successful and are now famous. They received many awards and became spectacular in their
