Decent Essays
The three countries i'm writing about are Jamaica, Korea, and France. One of the biggest differences between France and the other two counties is that cooking and food in general is seen as an art in France and is taken very seriously, the food presented is made with higher standards than Korea and Jamaica.

When it comes to French cooking they have a wide range of cooking but all are still set with high standards the biggest difference between these ranges are price rank, so they will either use cheaper or more costly ingredients. The more costly meals are usually a lot more sophisticated rather than the less costly one were as they just meet the health requirements. In the early gauge fine cooking were french standards. In the 1950s, foods took a change for the better… or worse. Things that Americans now take for granted were rare novelties back then. A simple pouch of McDonald’s french fries, a Whopper from Burger King, or microwavable Swanson TV Dinner trays easily changed the “cult of domesticity” in many 1950-modern homes. Before this time, women were expected to spend hours in the kitchen preparing meals for their families. This new way of food preparation changed the amount of money spent on food, the quality of food, and the amount of time and effort spent making food.…

The Europeans influenced other countries and cultures by establishing trading stations, creating colonies, imposing their ideas upon various native people, and introducing new diseases, and non-European cultures also changed European trade, social life, and ideas. According to Mary Maxfield in “Food as Thought: Resisting the Moralization of Eating”, French people tend to be more healthy than most Americans, due to the confusion over how properly they choose what to put in their bodies. Moreover, it is widely shown in this chapter that over the years and the tripling amount of overeaters, that here in America we’ve become so openly accepting of those who choose to make unhealthy choices. Maxfield explains, “the problem is that our understanding of health is as based in culture as it is in fact” ( 444 ). Though the big question that everyone for sure is wondering is exactly why have Americans become more obese? For one thing, as a culture, we no longer discuss healthy eating without discussing unhealthy weights and eating.…
