Comparing Islam And Christianity

As recent as 2009 there were an estimated 2.2 billion followers of Christianity and 1.5 billion followers of Islam. While Christianity has remained the most practiced religion in the world, over the years Islam has become more and more prominent. Whether it be Christianity or Islam, you can find many similarities and differences regarding each religion’s God, Holy Books, and Jesus Christ. In either religion, you can expect to find a belief in a single God by its followers. However, there are some differences. In Christianity, its followers believe in God who exists in three distinct persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. This is formally known as The Trinity. On the other hand, in Islam, its followers believe in a single God that is not represented by a trinity--the name of this God is known and worshiped as Allah. In addition, no matter which religion it is, full devotion and faith is required of its followers. In regards to a …show more content…
Christianity portrays Jesus as the Son of God and the second person in the trinity. He is divine and is believed to be from God himself. However, in Islam Jesus is believed to be a prophet sent by Allah himself, but he was not divine. In both religions Jesus passed away and was raised to heaven by God. In Christianity, however, he was believed to have been crucified for the Jews, but in Islam he was believed to have been crucified. When it comes to religion, whether it be Christianity or Islam, there are many similarities and differences between the two. They both can be seen as false to some, while to others they offer a glimmer of hope in what someone’s life really means. Whether it is Christianity or Islam, you can find numerous similarities and differences regarding God, The Holy Book, and Jesus Christ. Either way, it comes down to a choice of what someone believes in the truth and what God someone chooses to believe
