Comparing Harriet And David's Infamous Office Party

In the first couple pages this book starts a story, something simple, something that is going to draw the reader in, and what better way to do that is to start the book off with a romance. Two of the main characters go to a famous over exaggerated office party, but those characters whose names are Harriet and David did not want to attend this party. It was always crammed with about two hundred people in a long, ornate, and solemn room, for three hundred and thirty four days of the board room. There was dancing and people in flashy outfits screaming “look at me,” but there were two people there who were out of the ordinary. Can you guess? Yes, it was Harriet and David. When these two noticed each other from across the room they instantly had attraction to one another, and it all began from there in that office party, where they didn’t want to attend in the first place. …show more content…
In the book it says that “Harriet and David, set off from their respective corners towards each other at the same moment: this was to be important to them as the famous office party became part of their story.” It talks about how they rushed to each other, and finally they met, but besides the love story if this couple had never met and planned so much happiness the fifth child, Ben, would not have been part of their story.
