In her novel The Outsiders, S.E. Hinton explores the theme that stereotypes are unfair and that therefore, one cannot judge an entire group of people based on these prejudices. A person is more than just a product of their community or circumstances, which is seen to be true in the characters of Johnny and Ponyboy. The Outsiders has two types of people, there are Greasers and Socs. The Greasers were the middle class unlike the soc who are more rich and Greasers are more wilder.…

Greasers Compared to Socs Essay Don’t we all see the same sunset? It shouldn’t matter what side of town you live on, because at the end of the day, we all see the same sunset don’t we? At a certain point in time, this is all that Ponyboy Curtis believed his gang and the Socs, the other gang, had in common. Soon though, he learned that there was more similarities between the two groups than he originally thought.…

In my essay on, “The Outsiders”, I will be arguing that the Soc’s and the greasers are not very different if you compare the two of them. This is important because people are always saying that the Soc’s started something or that the Greaser’s started something but in the end they are just two rival gangs that both do bad things in their own ways. I would say that I would not be classified as a Greaser or a Soc. In my opinion, the Greasers and the Socs are not very different; they both commit crimes, they are both loyal to their friends, and they both start fights. The Greaser’s and the Soc’s are both criminals and they both commit crimes in different ways.…

Have you ever thought that the rich kids had it easy and their parents gave them whatever they wanted? Have you ever gave a thought that poor and rich kids were much different in many ways? These are some problems the greasers felt about the socs in the book “The Outsiders” by S.E. Hilton. This book dives into the lives and problems of the difference in economic status between greasers & socs in the year 1967. I believe kids in this century face the same problems the greasers did in 1967.…

However, the two gangs were complete opposites only when it came to their social classes. The Socs were very wealthy and the Greasers were very poor. However, when speaking generally and with the topic of life, they were all were people; they all went through hardships in their lives. They all could watch the sunset from each side of town--no matter what side of town they were in nor what gang they belonged to. The sunsets are what pulled them together; with the sunsets, they…

The Socs and the Greasers don't have many differences, but the ones that they do have define them. For one, the Socs have a lot of money or at least a lot more than the Greasers. Second off the Greasers are in the more gutter part of town were the Socs are on the rich side of town. Last, of all the socs, can do almost anything and get away with it, as for the Greasers they get blamed for things that don't even relate to them. I think that the reason the Socs and the Greasers dislike each other so much is they believe that they're completely different from each other.…

In the film, two gangs are introduced, the Socs and the Greasers. The groups have two very specific looks and carry a great deal of pride with them. The Socs are the typical privileged, rich and educated kids who are known for their preppy appearances and fancy cars. Meanwhile, the Greasers are the lower-class rascals, who are known for their long, silky, greased hair. Hinton uses these stereotypes, regarding appearances, and the consequences of those assumptions to reveal to the readers that appearances don't relate to personalities.…

In The Outsiders by S.E Hinton, most of the Greasers are friends without families and friends without guidance. Every single one of the young men that was growing up in this war of Greasers and Socs had no prior knowledge of what they got themselves into. As a result of associating themselves with a life of violence, fighting, and being awful in general has left them lost and almost incapable of redemption. Due to the age of the teenagers, in their most important stage of development in their life, they are affected by everything they see. This results in them adopting a worldview of being atrocious or cynical as a regular thing.…
