Perseverance through challenges without care of the opposition is what is shown in Epic of Gilgamesh and A New Hope. Luke Skywalker and Gilgamesh both had to go on an adventure to complete a task but in two very different eras. They both had to endure the challenges that went with the adventure. The two of them had to risk their lives in order to accomplish the task they were given. In the Epic of Gilgamesh and A New Hope, the heroes both risked their lives and pass severe tests in order to complete their goal. Gilgamesh and Luke both answered the call of adventure through challenges. The reason Gilgamesh wants to go on the adventure was to find the key to immortality. In order to achieve this Gilgamesh has to defeat Humbaba, who was feared by his appearance. Although Luke and Gilgamesh both took on the adventure, Luke was hesitant at first because he didn't want to leave his aunt and uncle. The deciding factor for Luke was when the rebels killed his aunt and uncle. Luke took on the call to help others as well as himself. Luke admired Obi-Wan Kenobi, who was a Jedi Master who taught Luke the ways of the force. He sacrificed his life, so Luke could escape from the Death Star. Gilgamesh didn't have as many allies as Luke did, although they both had people who were on their side who would help them. Gilgamesh was a very mean tyrant. Enkidu helped him realize that the way he was governing his people was not right. Gilgamesh in return helped Enkidu face his fears. Gilgamesh became a leader by understanding his people
