- Hamlet
Simile: Comparing Gertrude, Hamlet’s mother, to Niobe, a woman who has turned to stone, using “like.”
In this quote Hamlet compares his mother’s feelings to Niobe, a woman who was turned to stone after she asked the gods to relieve her of her pain after her family was killed by the gods, and how even Niobe, as a stone woman, would have mourned more and how Gertrude doesn’t show her love for family.
2. “She married. O, most wicked speed, to post With such dexterity to incestuous sheets!”
- Hamlet
Consonance: The ending sound of words in this quote sound very similar
