George and Lennie "Of Mice and Men" talks about of two men named George Milton and Lennie Small who was born in the same city and they become best friends. Before the aunt of Lennie dies, George promised her to take care of Lennie, he has a mental disability. Later they are looking for a job to get a better life. The story shows us how two people that are not relatives can make a great friendship and take care of each other and believe in themselves. Also, in the book we cans to visualize the differences and similarities between these two men in physical stature, psychological condition, character, and dreams. “It jus' seems kinda funny a cuckoo like him and a smart little guy like you traveling together”(Pg 19). For instance, George is an intelligent guy who knows what to do in any problem that gets in his way. For example, when Lennie got into trouble for touching a girl's red dress in Weed. Where did they work before, George knew what to do and had to run away from Weed to avoid being lynched. On the contrary, Lennie is a disabled man who has the mentality of a child. “…He was too dumb to take care of ‘imself” (Pg 19). He does not know what is right and what is wrong. For this reason, he always does what George tells him to do. In addition, George propose him should not say a word when they are in front of the boss of the ranch"What you gonna say…when the boss asks you questions?” “…I ain't gonna... say a word” (Pg 8) and he obeys …show more content…
George is a very responsible and hard-working man. George sometimes is rude with Lennie, on one occasion he made a joke to Lennie and almost drowned. Since then he has stopped making such jokes. Also, George feels a great affection to Lennie. George is like Lennie's dad because he always tries protecting him. For example, when Lennie had, the mouse in his pocket George took it because he thought that eventually the mouse is going to decompose. Lennie could get sick from having the dead mouse in his pocket. However, Lennie is like a little kid that he always obey to George as his father. Also, he is hard working and kind and sensible man who loves to petting soft things. For example, a cotton dress or a soft puppy. Although Lennie is very innocent, he is still capable of great violence. Since she lacks the ability to control herself physically and has a great, protective instinct, especially when it comes to her friend
