One difference between these two genres is the conflict. Conflict in a story can really depend on the setting too. For example, in a historical fiction book, you wouldn't have to worry about what happened during chapter 11 of,"Tiger's Curse," when the main character dealt with a man transforming into a tiger, then having to go on an adventure in India to break the curse- that's more of an issue that would happen in a sci/fi fantasy book. So on that note, one reason I like historical fiction more than sci/fi fantasy, is because it's more realistic. The culture that is involved in a story catches my attention so much, because historical fiction and sci/fi fantasy are so different in the way that their characters are raised and influenced by the things around them to do what they do- it's really interesting. I especially love learning about the struggles faced in the past. For example, throughout the whole book of,"Fever 1793," it focuses on the struggle that the new settlers in Philadelphia had to face against the yellow fever epidemic.
