The Elijah/Elisha and Luke narratives show many similarities. I am stunt and surprise about how the old and New Testament coincide with one another. It is obvious from the beginnings of Luke with the “by every word of God “and in the Elijah/Elisha narratives which made mention of Elijah’s voice being the ultimate voice. The feast of Danel’s for his son and Levi feast. The corn and the oil begin used and the widow not running out of these things if she would make Elijah a cake first. This essay will analyze the two texts, highlighting these similarities and differences, and explain which of the texts was written before the other. One big difference, definitely one of the more noticeable ones, is the plot of the two stories. The I Kings 17 begins with Elijah, the Tishbite, being told by G-d to go to “Zarephath of Sidon” for there is a widow there who will provide for him during this famine. There are many stories told in my family. Anyone and everyone told them, some nights it would be my mom and other nights it would be my grandpa. There would always be two stories read; the first one would be from a book called “My Book of Bible Stories”. This book has so many pictures asks questions has descriptive words and is still one of my favorite books. After that story whoever was telling the story would make up a silly story usually about a blue or green man with a giraffe that went traveling and exploring (I have no clue why).…

Despite these differences between these two different groups of people, there were still a few similarities. A similarity one could make is how both sides had viewed justice as absolute and final. The penalty they shared was how merciless they acted. In the Iliad, Achilles’ quest for justice is encircled by avenging Patroklos’ death after he was killed in battle while protecting Achilles’ name and wearing his armor. This combination of defending his honor and guilt feeds Achilles into becoming a crazed assailant, stuck on going through Heaven and Hell to destroy Hector in the name of Patroklos: “the killer of the man [he] loved – Hector” (Book 18:106).…

The three monotheistic religion branched off of each other therefore, most of the events they encounter in their holy book are the same such as the binding of Isaac. The Hebrew Bible scripture has gaps that the reader has to interpret however, the New Testament and the Qur’an scripture fill in the gap with their own interpretation of the events. The method used to display these events in their scriptures are different whereas the Hebrew bible shapes their scripture with conversations or quotes, the New Testament refers to these events by justifying or explaining the actions taken by God, Abraham and other characters in the holy text. God said to Abraham, “…Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him as a burnt offering on one of the mountains that I shall show you… Abraham took the wood of the burnt-offering and laid…

Specifically, when Jesus was crucified on the cross there were two other people next to him (Compare and Contrast John and Matthew 's Passion Narratives). Also the removal of Jesus to the Tomb is consistent in both gospels (Compare and Contrast John and Matthew 's Passion Narratives). Another similar element in these two gospels is the reference they make to the Old Testament (Compare and Contrast John and Matthew 's Passion Narratives).
