In the case of Dial M for Murder, Tony Wendice hires his ex-colleague Swann to murder his wife Margot. In A Perfect Murder, Steven Taylor bribes David Shaw who actually has criminal records to murder his girlfriend Emily Taylor. The plotted murder in Dial M for Murder becomes a total failure with Margot killing Swann during the scuffle and Emily kills the murderer that David Shaw hired during the scuffle as well. And for the final major shift that takes place, both Tony Wendice and Steven Taylor gets confronted and cornered and found guilty of a crime due to the awkward presence of the spare key which the hired murderer uses. We can easily view the technological differences in the everyday life that is being portrayed. Although they do not have smartphones in the 1990s, the phones they used were much modern and the transportation methods were much more modernized. We can even see a difference in the plotted murder with the added concept of security cameras. Everything seemed more sophisticated about the murderers and the crime scene. Furthermore, the entire concept of dialing a phone has changed! Although I do have to understand that Alfred Hitchcock’s Dial M for Murder was a great film, I cannot state enough that I personally favored the newer version of the film since everything is more convincing due to the sophistication of modern society. Not only the incorporation of the modern society but there was still many approaches that were living in the newer film that was derived from master Alfred Hitchcock that made the newer version further
