Comparing Delirium And There Will Come Soft Rains

Many stories share similar messages, some more than others. “There Will Come Soft Rains” and Delirium are an example of that. Both stories are extremely different but both contain a similar theme. Reading both the short story and the novel, it’s very hard to connect the two, but both regard the same topic. In Delirium, the plot focuses around an imperfect society. Everyone believes love is a disease and they’ve obtained a cure to keep from falling in love. Although people are terrified of the procedure, they go along with it, and ultimately, get their futures planned for them. Many people disagreed with society, however, and were titled “sympathizers”. In the past, people had run away from the restricted town and hid in what everyone called The Wilds. These people were titled as Invalids. After years of routine, people began to believe the government and thought love was a disease, thus causing society to become stricter. There were home …show more content…
Houses begin to run by themselves and everything is mechanical. Although outside may be dangerous and, as said in the story, radioactive, people are stuck on a strict day to day routine that seems to repeat itself. Many errors are described such as the house catching fire, the stove making breakfast at a psychopathic rate, and a voice reading poetry when not asked. Even though the home and machinery was seen to be perfect, it had mistakes and flaws just like real people. At the end of the story, a voice repeated the date multiple times. This also occurred in the very beginning but at the end, it was after the house burnt down. The occurrence shows that even when tragic things happened, the society kept going on with their schedule, completely disregarding anything bad that may have happened within the prior hours. The short story signifies that we shouldn’t live on technology and also that society is flawed no matter

The two comparations that I have is one that is a book, “Making bombs for Hitler” by Marsha F Skrypuch. The book’s setting is during World War II. It is about a girl named Lida who is from the Ukraine who is separated from her sister and is taken by Nazis who put her into a concentration camp and is forced with other children to help them in hospitals, sewing uniforms and of course making the bombs. Her main goal is to get out and find her sister. The other comparation that I am making with this book is the the 2012 musical movie, “Les misérables”, directed by Tom Cooper.…

Ray Bradbury is an author who has written many books and short stories with a style of his own that makes the reader think more about the story instead of just reading the words. Two short stories that Bradbury wrote are called “The Sound of Thunder” and “There Will Come Soft Rain.” These two short stories are similar in many ways. They both also share the qualities of using many types of figurative language and taking place in the future. The themes of the two stories are also similar because they revolve around the fact that technology could be used to end or mess up the world.…

Both of the short stories share several characteristics that reflect the concepts of Dark Romanticism. The two stories had a couple of the same themes covered, but the most evident one was guilt. In “The Boarded Window,” during the end of the story, Murlock realizes that his wife did not die, after finding evidence on her mutilated body. The severity of her illness did not allow her to respond. Furthermore, the narrator to Poe’s short story becomes overwhelmed with guilt when he begins to hear the heartbeat of the late elderly man’s heart within the floorboards.…

Today I will be comparing as well as pointing out several similarities between two stories written by the author Edgar Allan Poe, which are “The Tell-Tale Heart” (1842) and “The Black Cat” (1843). In these short stories the reader can see they both share the conscience of murder and dementia around the protagonist mind, transmitting to the reader throw-out imagery their frightening and cruel actions. As Poe makes an illusion of the protagonist being extremely different due to things such as responsibilities, living habits, and marital status, the reader can tie down similarities by the flashback of criminal history they confess and motives of committing their crimes. But most importantly the way when they both try to use logic they both fear…

Heroes typically have the characteristics of being strong and fearless. The ancient hero Gilgamesh had these ideals in the story the Epic of Gilgamesh, written in Western Asia in 2000 B.C.E. Even though these ideals are present, they are not as evident in the hero Harry Potter from J.K Rowling’s Harry Potter series written in the 21st century. However, in almost every book, no matter what the culture or time period are, the same basic themes of character traits, power and death recur.…

The Sniper and Cranes have differences that give two opposite ideas of the story. The main focus of The Sniper targets the civil war and the repercussions that follow it, whereas Cranes focuses on the loyalty one has to family and friends. The Sniper expresses the toll the war has taken on the soldier and how it affects him by giving detail about the feelings and thoughts he has about the war. The author wants the reader to know that the sniper is dedicated to his duty and does not think twice about the decisions he has to make. In Cranes, the opposite occurs; Songsam goes out of his duty and gives Tokchae the chance to escape instead of taking him to be killed, as he volunteered to do in the first place.…
