Parvana from “The Breadwinner” is resilient when she is going through tough times in Afghanistan with the Taliban taking over. She has to sell things for profit on her own. “... ‘Take your father’s writing things and his blanket, and go to the market,’ Mother told her. ‘Maybe you can earn some money.’... Parvana liked the idea. Yesterday’s shopping had gone well. If she could earn money, she might never have to do housework ever again.” (Ellis 74). Despite going through these rough times, and still has excitement, and looking on the bright side of things. Resilience is needed in both Parvana and Willow’s situations, and both girls had excellent resilience in dealing with it.
