Diabetes mellitus is a group of metabolic disorders characterized by hyperglycemia (H-YA Chang et al. 2012). It affects more than 220 million people worldwide, and 90% of those people have Type 2 diabetes (H-YA Chang et al. 2012).
To explore how complementary and alternative medicine users make decisions about Complementary and alternative Medicine (CAM) use. In the article, the team begin by addressing the importance of exploring how complementary and alternative medicine users make decisions about CAM use. The study emphasizes on the exploration of the process used by people with Type 2 diabetes. A big part of the researchers’ focus is concerns regarding poor understanding of CAM use among people with type 2 diabetes- people with chronic illness increasingly seek to use CAM.
To explore how people with type 2 diabetes who were CAM users made decisions about their use of CAM, the team used qualitative research approach form of naturalistic inquiry to understand how people make meaning out of a situation or a phenomenon within a real-world setting.
