Comparing Cinderella And Grimm's Cinderella

Have you ever been treated like no one wants you? Well, Cinderella has a pretty good idea of what it's like. In her story she is being mistreated by her stepmother and stepsisters, Anastasia, and Drizella. In both the Disney's version and the Grimm's version she feels this way. As she tries her best to please them it seems that it's just not good enough, but with a little help her dreams can come true. While some similarities between Disney's Cinderella and Grimm's Cinderella are evident, the differences are salient.
In both versions of Cinderella, the father of Cinderella is very wealthy, we see this when he brought home from the fair what his daughters had asked for which was fine cloths, pearls, and jewels. He also gets remarried to keep

In both versions the stepsisters and Cinderella try on the shoe. Also in both, Cinderella loses her shoe at the ball or festival. Lastly, in both stories the prince and Cinderella live happily ever after. In the Disney's version, the stepsisters both try on the shoe and it does not fit them. Then Cinderella tries it on after being locked in her room by her stepmother because she doesn't want her to try it on and the slipper fits her. The Grimm's version is quite different. In this story when one sister tries it on and the slipper did not fit the mother handed her a knife and told her to cut off her toe so it would fit. So she did and once the price saw the blood tracks he took her back cause he knew it did not fit her. As the second one tries it on and it does not fit the mother once again hands her the knife and tells her to cut off her heal. So she did and once again the price knew it wasn her she he took her back. Cinderella's father did not want her to try on the shoe but the prince demanded that she did, but before she could the stepmother broke the slipper. Cinderella had the other shoe and once the prince knew it was her they left and lived happily ever after.
While some similarities between Disney's Cinderella and Grimm's Cinderella are evident, the differences are salient. So now you know why Cinderella would feel like no one wants her. Even in the two stories she was mistreated in some way or

"Cinderella" by Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm resembles the classic Disney fairytale version of "Cinderellea" almost identically. The short story introduces Cinderella, her father, stepmother, and stepsisters in the same way Disney had while going more indepth with Cinderella and her father's story line. When the prince initially found his princess then realized what the other older stepsister did to make her foot fit into the glass slipper was where this rendition took a turn away from happiness and towards dark reality. In the end though Cinderella found her prince charming the stepsisters saw her go away. When comparing Grimm's rendition of "Cinderella" to Charles Perrault's rendition the differences are not in the setting or conflict but rather…

But in the Grimm Brothers version of the story, her godmother has provided her with a beautiful gold and silver dress with slippers that are silk and silver. Although the dresses sound very similar and most likely were thought to be, the slippers were described differently in each story making it a contrast between the two versions in the appearance of Cinderella. Another difference between the renditions…

When passing birds, which had helped Cinderella with the tasks her stepmother had given her to prevent her from going to the ball and also presented her with the wardrobe each night she went to the ball, also informed the prince each time he passed with one of the step-sisters that they had a bloody foot in the slipper and each time he took them back. The Brother Grimm’s version of Cinderella has hidden meanings in the stories that teach us about how the story resembles or symbolize our society. The first symbol in the story that stood out to me the most is the stepsisters representing society 's cruelness and greed. The second symbol was the stepmother’s envy of Cinderella 's beauty, because Cinderella was more beautiful than her daughter 's. The stepmother thought that her daughter’s were not as beautiful as Cinderella and as a result she was envious of Cinderella, this represent a society dominated by envy and hate. The third symbol is the hazel tree that provided Cinderella with the wisdom and inspiration to overcome the abuse she was going through, this represents how society rewards…

Even though Cinderella two wicked step-sisters were heartless and arrogant, “she still embraced them and forgave them with all her heart and married them to two great lords of the Court”. In the Grimm’s brother’s version, the folktale ended violently and fiercely because “the two step-sister’s eyes were pecked out by pigeons for their wickedness and falsehood” and they were blind as long as they lived. According to Maria Tatar the author of numerous articles on fairy tales and also ten scholarly books, “fairy tales have modeled behavioral codes and development paths, even as they provide us with terms for thinking about what happens in our world”…
