In this day and time, we the people of America have lost what it means to be a true hero. Nowadays the most popular types of heroes are those behind a silver screen, or better yet, an actor or actress playing the role of a certain fictional character that we’ve come to know and love. For this paper, I will be comparing Beowulf, a heroic fictional character with Superman, a well-known modern hero, also fictional. What is a hero? That’s the big question. If you were to go to a preschool today and ask a class what a hero is to them, they might just say some of the few characters that they’ve been introduced to like Batman, Wonder Woman, Iron Man, Thor, The Hulk, the list goes on and on.
