Ben and Rose have plenty in common and their stories connect in many ways. Their stories connect in one way because both partial or fully of them are deaf. Since they have trouble hearing they are very lonely at times. You can tell from the pictures that Rose is lonely and from what is known about Ben one could infer that he is lonely. In both stories there is a storm. The storm in Ben’s story is what caused him to go completely deaf. There were two storms in Rose’s story. One in the movie that she was watching and one on her way home from the theater. There are also figurative storms in the novels. Ben’s storm is his loss of his mother makes him sorrowful at times. Rose’s storm is she is very lonely and sometimes loses her temper at times.
