Comparing Barbara Corcoran's Early Life And Work

Early Life: Barbara Corcoran graduated from St. Thomas Aquinas College with a degree

in education in 1971. After graduating, she taught school for a year, but she soon moved on

working various jobs including side job renting apartment in New York City. She then later in

1973 co- founded a real estate business called The Corcoran Group with her boyfriend, who

fronted a $1,000 loan. In the mid-1970’s she began publishing The Corcoran Report on real

estate data trends in New York City.

In 2001, Barbara Corcoran sold her business to NRT Incorporated for $70 million. She is

also one of the Sharks on ABC’s Shark Tank. She has invested into more than 20 business dates.
