Bree is the only one in town who can communicate with Archer. This is because Bree’s father was deaf, so Bree and her father communicated through sign language. Archer taught himself sign language since he cannot talk. Bree and Archer get to know each other better and better and eventually fall in love. They discover each other’s mental and physical wounds. Archer has been isolated from society and has been living on his own ever since he was seven, so Bree teaches him a lot about society and life.
