• In the end, Cady decides to break her crown up into pieces, how does this help in getting the crowd to like her? Compare this speech to Antony 's speech.
At the end of her speech, Cady breaks her crown into pieces, getting the crowd to like her more because she is essentially sharing the power of becoming queen with them, since they all get a piece of the crown, which makes them feel popular. This is true when the recipients of the pieces of the crown say, “‘Look. I’m a queen.’ ‘As am I’”(Mean Girls) making them all feel as though they are as powerful as the queen. This helped Cady become more well liked because now everyone is on the same level as her, and she abolished the hierarchy. This

FOOD CHAIN
• Describe the food chain in both Mean Girls and Julius Caesar.
In Mean Girls, “The Plastics” are on the top of the food chain, and the other students are below them. This means that the Plastics can have complete control over some, and if they don’t they’re automatically an outsider. Similarly in Julius Caesar, the triumvirate is on the top, and the Roman citizens are beneath them. Like in Mean Girls, the Roman citizens have to follow the triumvirate, or they will face the consequences of being the outcasts.
• Several people say, “You can 't join Mathletes it’s “social suicide” what does social suicide mean?
In the movie, many people say that joining the Mathletes is “social suicide” because they are viewed as “nerds.” At the school Mean Girls took place in, nerds were looked down upon by everyone else, because they were different. Like in any large group, those who are different tend to be looked down upon. Knowing this, social suicide means that one is pulling himself out of the group, and is therefore seen as different by anybody in the group, which is not necessarily a good thing when they are trying to fit

In other words, when people are scared, they’ll try to follow you, because they’re scared, and they don’t want to do anything to upset you, and get on your bad side. This is true throughout the film because everyone at the school is scared of Regina George, and they’d never do anything to upset her because they don’t want her to dislike them. They’re scared that if they do anything that makes them look not loyal to the leader, they’ll hurt them, and this fear of the unknown makes them even more

Cady, a once straight A, honor roll student finds herself falling behind in school, and becoming a person that even her own parents do not recognize. When we are placed within a small group of individuals we often find ourselves, or change into the person we wish to become. Because the plastics lack within- group diversity, they are all expected to act the same, dress the same on certain day, and even think the same. When these types of things are implied, and forced upon, we find that many times we lose a since of our individuality. When Cady tells the girls she is considering joining the mathletes they tell her that would be social suicide, and explain that she would lose her image.…

In the book In Search of Respect by Philippe Bourgois, Bourgois decides to really study the life of Primo and Caesar and how they got to the point of drug dealing. What he argues is that due to structural oppression that society has bestowed upon them, it has resulted in them inevitably become drug dealers. This is clearly shown when Primo and Caesar try to get jobs in the FIRE Sector but ultimately fail because they were treated unjustly. They were labeled as drug dealers by societal judgement which really impacted their chances of surviving a honest job. This is the whole idea of “interlocking structural oppression” which shows how society can label specific groups who are categorized by certain values and prevent them from doing their maximum potential.…

The historical play, “Julius Caesar”, by William Shakespeare illustrates the problems of leadership that commence after the assassination of the Roman dictator, Julius Caesar. The play has a thorough use of rhetorical devices and was a powerful persuasion tool during the whole of the show. This literary device is extensively used during the funeral scene in Act three, Scene two where Marcus Brutus and Mark Antony give their speeches about Caesar's death. In their funeral speeches, while Marcus Brutus delivered a logical speech, Mark Antony overall wins the crowd through his use of ethics and empathy. Antony’s speech left such a lasting impact due his skillful use of Pathos.…

Our essential question was “How is trust is created or destroyed?” I would answer it by saying that trust is created or destroyed by the presence or lack of credibility. I came to this conclusion by comparing how in Mean Girls, Julius Caesar, and in real life how trust is earned and lost. Throughout our entire podcast, we saw that a common theme with trust in all three scenarios is the strong ability to rely on the other person. For example, Janis relies on Cady to betray The Plastics, until she loses her trust when she realizes she can no longer rely on her.…

Though, most of the social context is purely based off of Hollywood creation, which allows for larger drama within and between cliques. My first interaction with the play Julius Caesar was part of my curriculum and entirely changed my stand on Shakespearean literature, while The Hunger Games is one of my favourite books. This is, what persuaded me, to find a common ground between the two books. The research question I have chosen has implications which gives us an interesting outlook on how literature and language to portray human psychology. The question is worth considering for it is living proof that human psychology has remained unchanged as centuries have passed by. Even the first thought of comparing these 2 books may seem absurd, but the past can help us understand the present and the present makes the past relatable.…
