Comparing An Inconvenient Truth And Bowling For Columbine

Al Gore’s film An Inconvenient Truth, making the argument that global warming is real and humans are the cause for it, but we can also do something about it. On the other hand you have Michael Moore film, Bowling for Columbine, who is trying to make the argument that the gun violence in America is in large part due to the fear that is present in our daily lives in America and that is why we have more gun violence than other countries. Although they both did a job in presenting their arguments, Gore’s, An inconvenient Truth did a better job in opinion in making his case than Moore. After watching both of these films, Al Gore’s An Inconvenient Truth did a better job in convincing me of his argument, throughout his film he used facts, appealed to our emotions, and he was consistent throughout the whole film. That was really emotional and you forget that he’s trying to convince you and you look at him as a loving parent that wants the best for his kids. It made me think about how I want the same things for my future son or daughter, who wouldn’t? Again he appeals to your emotion, he brings up how he knows how difficult it is to change an opinion, when the talks about his sister who passed away from cancer. His family grew up growing tobacco even after they found out it was dangerous, it was until after his sister passed away that they stopped growing it. It makes a powerful point, he doesn’t want you to lose something or someone important to realize we have to change, like his family did.
