For this scene, act 3, scene 3, Romeo hides in Friar Lawrence’s after killing Tybalt. Friar Lawrence attempts to counsel and comfort him, but he’s too distraught over the fact that he won’t be able to see Juliet because of his banishment. The Friar then describes a plan to see Juliet one last time and quickly leave to Mantua before being caught. Towards, the end of the scene, the nurse comes and brings news of Juliet, and gives Romeo a ring as a sign of love and hope. We set our scene during the Great Depression. We extended the idea of desperation, because Romeo is desperate to see Juliet, and during the Great Depression, people were in need of money, jobs, and food.
