“Acquainted with the Night” by Robert Frost and “Harlem” by Langston Hughes are two very different short stories. However, there are a few similarities within the two stories. “Acquainted with the Night” is about a man who is isolated and depressed walking through, out of and past his town. “Harlem” is about a man questioning the consequences of putting your dreams off for too long. The first similarity between both stories is that emotions are an extremely strong influence towards the reader. In “Harlem”, the narrator hooks the reader by making them question their dreams, emotions and actions.
