They both want obedience and control, but most of all they both want power. In 1984, Big Brother has given a sense of fear that makes the characters in the book to have no emotion whatsoever. “When he got up to it he saw that a human hand severed at the wrist…He kicked the thing into the gutter, and then, to avoid the crowd, turned down a side street to the right (84).” The Party defeats anyone 's purpose of having any kind of emotion. This is the same as Animal Farm. “Instead--she did not know why--they had come to a time when no one dared speak his mind, when fierce, growling dogs roamed everywhere, and when you had to watch your comrades torn to pieces after confessing to shocking crimes. There was no thought of rebellion or disobedience in her mind (87).” The only emotion the animals have is fear. In both books the effects of both dictators cause the characters in both books to show no emotion toward anyone or themselves. Big Brother as a leader took everything from his citizens. He never gave them a chance to explain themselves and in the end left everyone of them as nothing. Napoleon as a leader thought he was more superior than others. He was a leader that wanted nothing more than obedience and if you did not give it to him, he took your life away. Both leaders are very similar in wanting the same thing. Although, both leaders are not something you would want as someone who would control everything you did. Big Brother and Napoleon equally share the concept of wanting complete control and
