Ralphie's perception of Santa and his elves was drastically different than his expectations. Poor Ralphie hoped to ask Santa for the Red Ryder BB gun he wished to see on Christmas morning; he was undoutbly let down by Santa and his elves demeanor. If only Santa and his Elves were as gleeful as he imagined.
While in line, he noticed kids fearful cries while aggressive elves hurried each child toward an unfriendly Santa. His excitement to tell Santa about the Red Ryder BB gun quickly deteriatted after observing the negative atmosphere. Overwhelmed, Ralphie almost forgot to tell Santa what he wished for; the Red Ryder BB gun! Suddenly, he realized his only chance to tell Santa and blurted out his Christmas wish only to be pushed down the slide
