Oedipus was quick to heart to solve the problem of his land before actually thinking anything out, his whole tragedy could have been avoided if he just listened to his friend. His arrogance got the better of him, blinding his judgment of what was right in front of him. Hamlet was not much different, his desire to the learn the truth got the better of him, causing him to lose sight and lead to his end. Hamlet himself had many chances to avoid his tragic ending, once he knew that Claudius had killed his father, he could have taken his revenge right there but his morals delayed him. Oedipus and Hamlet can be seen today in everyday tasks. People let their arrogance blind their judgment all the time resulting in failure. One acts to quickly without thinking and failure occurs, or one thinks way too much not, acting soon enough and failure also occurs. As a person one could learn a lot about themselves and life through Hamlet and Oedipus, the everyday decisions we make and the effect they can have on our life, even if we think they are right. Hamlet and Oedipus thought they were doing the right thing, but as the story went on one could see they defiantly made the wrong decision. Now that I have taken a step back and looked at both pieces, I was able to take a big step forward in understanding both stories better. Learning that even though you may think it is the right decision, it still may be wrong. Our morals and values play a huge role in the way we think and do, two characters from different time periods with different personalities and values end up making the same wrong choice. It makes one think of the choices one has made and if they were right or wrong, and if wrong, am I just waiting for my tragic end to
