Have you ever stopped caring so much that whatever happens, happens? I remember the time I had gotten in trouble by my mom because I had walked home from school. It was a gloomy day from it being so cloudy and cold. I was talked into walking home during school by friends whom, at the time didn't care about school as much as I did, cared nothing of school. I didn’t like it, but then again I started not to care either.…
According to Christopher Reeve a hero “is an ordinary individual who finds the strength to persevere and endure in spite of overwhelming obstacles” I believe I have found someone who can live up to these standards, his name is Deshaun watson. He was a star quarterback at clemson universe and got draft this year in the first round, If things go as plan the will be the starting quarterback for the Houston Texas. This team was a good quarterback away from giving the super bowl champions some trouble, but this was not always so for this young man. He grew up in Gainesville, Ga a place his mother dreamed of leave, in one interview she said that it wasn't uncommon for a couple stray bullets to come through their home each night. When he talks about his childhood he doesn't know how he maked it out.…
Joseph Campbell studied ancient greek mythology. After studying, the American Mythologist, Writer, and Lecturer, discovered that heroes in almost every story follow this same path called the Heroic Journey. He figured this out by seeing that all the heroes go through stages. For example, they refuse, they have tests/allies/enemies, and they are rewarded at the end of their journey. Everybody is a hero in their own story if you think about it.…
Joseph Campbell, in his book chapter “The Self as Hero,” argues how all heroes go through similar, if not the same, stages on the way to complete their journey. He supports his claim by citing evidence from classic literary tales like “The Princess and the Frog” and “When the Two Came to their Father” and appealing to pathos and logos. Campbell’s purpose is to educate readers on how most hero stories follow the same path and can influence and be influenced by the public, who can learn from the hero 's journey. The author writes in an academic tone for his audience, the readers of “The Self as Hero” and for people who enjoy the arts, heroism, and thrilling stories. In this essay, I will be comparing 3 stories different stories about heroes,…
Personal Narrative Ever since I was 6 I have been a part of a team called “The St. Jude Performance Team” and our main goal is to raise money for children who are sick with cancer. My life is just like Joseph Campbell’s Heroe’s Journey because I went through a rough time believing and trusting my dad. I lived without my youngest brother for five years. I left my ordinary world and headed towards something very different. My mentor was very helpful and I learned a great amount of things from him.…
Babe Ruth was a legend he was notorious in baseball, you should look him up. Anyways, where I’m going with this is, I’m not a legend. To compare my life and Anafghat’s life are similar which is child marry and no opportunities for going back to school as a child hood life. The values behaviors and opportunities are similar to me because in my country if you are marry when you were young and you cannot be going back to school anymore. As you were young if you have a child you will not have an opportunity to going back to school but the different thing is no one told you that you have to marry when you were young. Some of the things that I learn for her life is she fight hard for her life to going back from school. To me American is different country to many other countries’ because if you have child and you can still finish you high school or GED diploma.…
My life’s journey is much like Joseph Campbell’s Hero’s journey because I met my mentors, had to deal with many problems, and I earned a special reward in the end. Many people think that life is like a videogame, going on a mission and saving the girl. I on the other hand view life differently, life is not a videogame, life’s more than that. We need to open our eyes and wake up. We need to stop playing and actually pay attention to the world in which we live in because we all have a journey that we may not be aware of.…
As a little child, my nephew always watched a power ranger’s video every day. He also wants to become a superhero like in the movie because he thought the superhero was cool and had some kinds of power than normal people. In the movie, there were showing good people were protect others and bad people tried to control the world, which make the children learn that not everyone were good people. Hero possesses to protect their loved one from dangerous without fear of losing their life.…
I believe that my personal background, and my success despite the adversity that I have faced is an essential part of who I am. The first of my struggles came from being born to two teenage parents without at least a high school education, and although my mother went on to get a GED and to college my father did not. Many people in my family had issues with substance abuse and addictions including my father. Although, I was raised by my mother and grandmother, my father’s actions and behaviors negatively impacted my life. My father was verbally and mentally abusive to the people around him, especially when he used alcohol.…
One event that affected my life is is when I moved to North Carolina from Arizona. It happened 3 years ago when I was 12. It happened over 5 days. Everyone has a hero’s journey sometime in their life whether it be a major event or just a small one. The little vacation was mainly to meet family members that I had never met and to see where my parents grew up.…
Though I’m still developing my legacy, I like to think that most people who know me, regardless of how well, consider me a person that can put a smile on nearly any face. From my time in high school as photo studio assistant getting babies to giggle on camera to my work as a personal trainer cracking jokes to help clients through the worst parts of their workouts; I learned that a little laughter can improve any situation. While this is a fairly simple impact to have on people, I do believe that it’s a powerful one. My own experiences with bereavement, chronic ill health and periods of poor mental health have shown me the value of a person that puts in the effort and time to get a smile out of someone. Though happiness is a pretty fleeting…
