I’ve decided that I would like to travel to Nice, France. It is known for being home of the European Elite. I know it’s going to be pricey but a city with rich art history is worth going to even if it is a little pricey. I will be visiting Promenade des Anglais, Musée Marc Chagall and the Russian Orthodox Cathedral.

The Chartres Cathedral and the Nanna Ziggurat are wonderful representatives for their geographical origins. The Chartres Cathedral, found on page 360 in the textbook, is a masterful example of Gothic architecture. The Nanna Ziggurat, found on page 324 of the textbook, is a simply designed geometric structure, created before complex architecture classifications. Both the Chartres Cathedral and Nanna Ziggurat contrast visually and structurally. While they ostensibly differ, in truth, the Chartres and Nanna actually share similar aspects such as purpose and construction duration.…

I believed in today’s world it extremely important to know where things are especially if you live in a certain place for years where you don’t have an idea where things are. I recommend this exploratory research trip because it provides you with knowledge, and at the same time you’re getting to know your city, before you start knowing other cities. Also you might not notice at first but this project has plenty to provide you with. For example, being familiar with your soundings. You will be amazed of how many people that have been working for years close to Pancho Villa and still not knowing the…

The Byzantine Fresco Chapel opened in February 1997 as part of the Menil collection which displayed the only intact Byzantine frescoes in the western hemisphere from the time it opened till February 2012. A frescoe is a quickly done painting in watercolor on wet plaster on the ceiling or wall, in order that the colors penetrate the plaster and when it dries they will become fixed. After it was announced that the collection would permanently return to Cyprus, the frescoes were later stolen from the chapel in the 1980s and cut into 38 pieces. They were then shipped by the thieves to Germany prepared to sell them in the arts black market. The 38 pieces of the frescoes were later bought by the Menil foundation from the thieves.…

The marriage in “Cathedral”, the narrator and his wife, who are both unnamed, and the marriage in “The Yellow Wallpaper” between the narrator and her husband John shows similar qualities in how inequality can play an affect, resulting in a disaster between the two. Both husbands share the lack of respect and equally for women, especially to their wives. In “Cathedral", the husband is outraged and extremely jealous by the friendship between his wife and her friend who is blind. Robert, the blind man, was “no one [he] knew” and “[him] being blind bothered [him]”.…

The first source that I read was a Wikipedia page created by several people who had gathered information about Gothic Cathedrals. There was no specific date when this Wikipedia page was created. The point of view from this source gives the reader the impression that the Dark Ages weren’t too “dark”. This point of view is shown through the quote, “Common features of gothic cathedrals included architectural innovations, including: large columns, high ceilings with ribbed vaults, flying buttresses, and large stained glass windows”. This quote gives the reader the idea that Gothic Cathedrals were very nicely built and majestic.…

For my adventure in culture project I decided to go to St Petersburg’s Museum of Fine Arts. I had never been to this museum before and honestly I was not really sure what to expect. My first impression of the building walking up to it is that it looked marvelous and looked like what any classic museum would look like. It has great pillars and is modern yet it exudes a more elder and traditional style. It made me feel enthusiastic and welcome to come in and see what enthralling and compelling artifacts and pieces may be held inside of it.…
