“Don’t be sad when the sun goes down / You’ll wake up and I’m not around / We’ll still have the summer after all” says Lady Gaga in her song ‘Summerboy‘ while Joni Mitchell replies as “I get the urge for going / When the meadow grass is turning brown / Summertime is falling down and winter is closing in” in her song the ‘Urge for Going’. When it comes to the notion of holiday, I prefer summer to winter. Yet, both summer and winter vacations deserve to be compared and contrasted in terms of weather and what it brings, what to do in advance and during the time off, vacationing and the holiday itself.

To begin with, you’ll have to pack up lots of vestures for a winter layoff. On account of the need for lots of clothes, you’ll need to get a hefty valise with you in contrast to summer. Even so your efforts will not be in vain because in winter no matter how cold it gets, you can always throw more clothes on. To get warmer you can be very creative and pursue different alternatives. However, with much less clothes on, the looseness and freedom of summer is priceless as opposed to winter when you end up looking like a heavy pumpkin with that many clothes on. Subsequently, both in summer and winter holidays hiking, biking, ATV tours are some possible pursuits. In winter you can engage in lots of outdoor activities such as skiing, skating, snowboarding, building snowmen and snowball fights. Conversely, in summer you may swim, dive, surf, spend your day at the beach or by the poolside or participate in countless outdoor activities. Yet, the legendary Louis Armstrong says “Leave your worries on the doorstep / Life can be so sweet / On the sunny side of the street.” in accordance with Mungo Jerry who sings “In the summertime when the weather is high / You can stretch right up and touch the sky”. Hence above of all the summer with its beautiful sunshine, energizing and long-lasting daytime, light clothes, a wide range of fun outdoor activities, and with the hustle and bustle of the season, will definitely be your best choice
