Consequently the short stories of Young Goodman brown & the birthmark published and written by Nathaniel Hawthorne illustrates the historical context, religious views, societal conditioning and biographical and scientific construct that comes to play in all aspect, shapes and forms that reveals the culture we live in today society. In today society there several things that goes on in secrete or behind close doors many in which the average person is typically not aware about. Although as individuals we should not be confined to worry ourself over what is concealed or hidden behind closed doors, but rather we should be concerned to worry about what goes on in the dark. Goodman Brown choice to go into the forest is motivated by his curiosity as Eve choice was to eat of the forbidden fruit. The staff highlights a clear distinction that the men is more evil than good, than that of Goodman Brown, when he takes upon the staff for himself, he is representing ones path towards evil and darkness. In the Birthmark, Evil is considered the main context of the story. After reading the birthmark the character Aylmer finds himself lost in pride that cause him to lose his endearing wife. Hawthorne portrays Aylmer to be considered Godlike taking upon the characteristics as someone who is in power over others. Why because he is controlling and callous to the needs of others because he only cared about himself. Throughout the reading of this story pride is the ultimate goal for Aylmer because he intended to mold his wife Georgiana to fit his exceptions and perception of what he felt as though she she be than rather what his wife Georgiana felt she should be so he was basically in a complete denial and living of his fantasy.So Georgina was trying to live up to Aylmer exceptions and his standards which overall resulted in aylmer demise and downfall when she pass
